Gobhi Mung




Ingredients

Yellow split mooung daal
1 cup
Finely chopped onions
2/3 cup
Grated ginger
1 tsp
Minced garlic
2 tsp
Turmeric
1/3 tsp
Potatoes – peeled and quartered
3 medium
Head cauliflower – cut into florets
1/3 small
Salt
1 tbsp
Ghee
12 tbsp
Cumin seeds
1 tbsp
Green chillies – seeded and minced

Red pepper
½ tsp
Lemon juice
2 tsp
Chopped coriander leaves
2 tbsp


Wash mooung beans. Put in a deep pot with onions, ginger, garlic, turmeric and 3 cups water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Add potatoes, cauliflower, salt and another 2 cups water. Cook for 15 minutes. Heat ghee over high heat, when very hot, add cumin seeds and fry until they turn dark brown. Add chillies and red pepper and stir briefly. Pour contents into the stew. Add lemon juice and coriander leaves. Mix well. Serve with plain cooked rice.
