Clean and mince meat. Heat the fat. Fry chopped onions and chopped bacon. Add minced meat, breadcrumbs, beaten egg and seasoning and a little stock to moisten. Grease a bread loaf tin. Dredge with breadcrumbs. Arrange sliced hard-boiled egg. Press in prepared meat. Cover with grease-proof paper and bake in a moderate oven at 175oC (350oF) for 1 hour. Serve hot or cold with tomato sauce or brown gravy.
