Ingredients

Rice
225gms
Split black gram
115gms
Fenugreek
¼ tsp
Salt
to taste 


Wash and soak rice for about 30 minutes. Strain and dry. Grind coarsely in the grinder. Soak gram for one hour and grind with fenugreek till it is light and frothy. Mix ground rice and ground gram and a little water and keep it overnight. Add a pinch of salt and steam in idli steamer. Serve hot with coconut chutney.

N. B.      If parboiled rice is used, the proportion of black gram to rice can be 1:3
