Sieve flour, rub in the fat. Add salt and water and prepare a soft dough. Set aside for half an hour. Knead well. Divide into even sized balls. Press the center of each and put in prepare gram mixture. Close the opening well. Flatten and roll out into rounds of 10 cm. (4”) diameter. Deep fry in hot fat on a slow fire till brown.

Filling

Soak gram for 2 hours. Remove husk and grind to a paste. Grind the spices together. Heat the fat. Fry ground spices and add gram paste and salt. Fry till all moisture is absorbed.
