Peel and cut bananas into pieces 2.5 cm. (1”) long and 0.75 cm. (¼ “) thick. Wash well ina little buttermilk to remove stains. Grind together green chillies and turmeric. Smear on bananas pieces. Add salt, water and curry leaves and cook till bananas are tender and water almost dried up. Grind together half the grated coconut and cumin to a smooth paste. Add to bananas. Heat without boiling, stirring all the time remove. Heat coconut and sliced onions. When nearly brown, add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds crackle, add curry. Mash bananas. Bring to boil and remove.
