Ø 500 gms green moong dal
Ø 500 gms sugar
Ø 2 cups of ghee
Ø 6 cups milk
Ø 200 gms mawa
Ø A large pich saffron, soaked in warm milk
Ø 4 small cardamoms, coarsely powdered
Ø 100 gms sliced cashewnuts
Soak moong dal overnight. Rinse and remove husk by rubbing with palms and fingers. Grind the rinsed dal into a coarse paste. Heat ghee and dal paste and cook on medium flame till it turns golden brown. Now add milk and cook. When milk dries, add sugar and simmer. Now put in mawa and continue frying till ghee separates the halwa from the pan. Add saffron and powdered cardamoms. Garnish with sliced cashewnuts and serve hot.
