Tomato murgi














Ingredients

For 6 to 8
Chicken (fryer)

Onions
340gms
Red chillies
5 to 6
Ginger
1.25 cm (1 ½ “) piece
Garlic
2 cloves
Cloves
3 to 4
Cinnamon
5 cm (2”) piece
Tomatoes
500gms
Fat
45gms (3 tbsp)
Vinegar
2 tbsp
Salt
to taste 


Clean and joint chicken. Boil together finely chopped tomatoes and a quarter of the onions (also chopped) with about 2 cups of water. When cooked, pass through a sieve. Grind using the vinegar, the red chillies, ginger, garlic, cloves and cinnamon. Slice the remaining onions. Heat the fat. Add onions and fry. Remove. Add ground ingredients and fry lightly. Add chicken, fried onions, salt and remaining vinegar. Cook, covered on a slow fire. When half done, add tomato and onion sauce. Cook gently till chicken is very tender. Serve hot.
