Split black gram

Soak the gram overnight. Grind it coarsely and add chopped
green chillies, ginger, cumin and salt. Mix well. Shape into wadas 5 cm (2”) in
diameter and 0.5 cm (¼”) thick. Fry in hot fat till golden brown. Drain the wadas
and soak them in water for 5 – 10minutes. Squeeze out the water and soak them
in the tamarind chutney.

Soak the tamarind for 1 hour, take out the pulp and strain
it. Roast and powder spices. Add all the roasted and powdered spices, sugar and
salt. Chilli and serve.
