Soak gram overnight. Boil the gram with turmeric till
cooked. Extract tamarind juice. Slice onions and grind ginger and garlic. Heat
oil, add cumin and whole red chillies. Add ginger-garlic paste, onions and fry
well. Then add the gourd cut into big pieces. Add a little water and cook for a
few minutes. Finally, add tamarind juice, the cooked gram and salt and simmer
for 10 minutes. Serve hot.
