Clean, wash and soak the gram for half an hour and cook till
soft. [water amount if chapaties are to be served with Amti; otherwise as given in]. Heat oil
and mustard seeds; when they crackle, add slit green chillies and chopped
onion. When the onion is tender add chilli powder, turmeric and garam masala.
Add the cooked gram, bring to boil, add tamarind juice, jaggery and salt.
