Chutney imli (tamarind)















Ø  200 gms tamarind, soaked in a cup of water
Ø  1 large piece of asafoetida
Ø  ¼ tsp fenugreek seeds
Ø  2 tsp mustard seeds
Ø  A small lump of jaggery, diced
Ø  ½ tsp turmeric powder
Ø  2 tsp oil
Ø  2 tsp salt
Ø  5 cloves garlic, sliced
Ø  4 green chillies, chopped

Heat oil and season it with fenugreek, mustard seeds, garlic and asafoetida. Add chillies and fry for five minutes. Now strain tamarind juice, pour in the pan, add turmeric powder, jaggery and salt. Simmer for 10 mts till it is cooked well and the fat content starts floating on the top.
