Bhat Tamatar














Ø  2 cups of rice
Ø  3 cups of water
Ø  1 cup fresh tomato juice
Ø  3 green chillies
Ø  5 pepper corns
Ø  ½ tsp cumin seeds
Ø  ¼ tsp mustard seeds
Ø  ¼ tsp turmeric pwd
Ø  1 inch long cinnamon stick
Ø  4 cloves
Ø  4 tblsp ghee
Ø  Salt to taste

Heat 1 tblsp ghee and fry the rice well. Now add boiling water to the tomato juice. Cover and cook till rice is tender but rice grain should remain separate. Heat the remaining ghee, fry the green chillies, pepper corns, cumin seeds, mustards seeds, cloves and cumin seeds, cloves and cinnamon and simmer the whole lot after adding salt and turmeric powder. Now add cooked rice to this mixture on a low flame. Cover the whole lot for a few minutes. Take off the flame. Serve either hot with curry or cold with curd.
