Batter:

Cut meat into neat pieces or skin sausages. Place in a
greased pie dish. Mix flour and salt in a bowl. Make a well in the centre. Add
the egg. Stir from the centre, working in the flour gradually adding the milk
till it looks like cream. Beat well and mix thoroughly. Stir in the remaining
milk and leave to stand for at least half and hour. Pour batter over meat or
sausage. Bake in a hot oven for 45 minutes – 1 hour. Reduce heat slightly after
15 minutes. Serve hot.
N. B. If meat is inclined to be tough, boil
first.
