Barbecue sauce (A)

Place in a thick-bottomed pan, the tomatoes peeled and quartered, diced onion, sugar, salt and vinegar. Cook for 1 ½ hours or until mixture ceases to look watery. Add finely chopped chillies (without seeds) and cook for half an hour. Place in sterilized jars and process in a hot water bath for 15 minutes. Use for hamburgers or cold meats.

Serve with hamburgers, grilled poultry, cold meat etc.
