Baked fish curry (Pollicha Meen) (malayalee)

Clean fish. Keep mackerel whole but cut Pomfert into large pieces. Make gashes in the fish. Grind together red chillies, fennel and salt. Smear over fish. Apply oil on banana leaves. Line a pan with these leaves. Place fish over. Add vinegar, cover with banana leaves and put lid on. Put live coal on lid. Cook over gentle heat till fish is cooked.

N. B.      This dish can also be prepared in the oven in a covered dish.
