Swedish onion casserole














Ingredients

Onions
225gms
Egg (hard-boiled)

Cheese sauce:


Butter
45gms
Refined flour
3 level spoon
Milk
400ml
Grated cheese
115gms
Salt and pepper
to taste 
Mustard
¼ tsp


Peel, slice and fry onions in melted butter until tender and peel golden brown. Place in a casserole or ovenproof dish. Arrange sliced hard-boiled eggs over top. Cover with prepared cheese sauce and cook in a hot oven at 205oC (400oF) or gas mark 6 for 15 to 20 minutes until heated through add golden brown.

Cheese sauce:

Melt butter, cook flour over gentle heat stirring continuously for one minute. Remove pan from heat, gradually blend in milk to form a smooth sauce. Return to heat. Bring to a boil and simmer gently for 3 minutes stirring throughout. Stir in grated cheese and season to taste with salt, pepper and mustard.
