Shell prawns. Remove intestines. Wash thoroughly. Slice half
the onions finely. Grind remaining with turmeric, chilli powder, garlic and
ginger to a smooth paste. Heat the fat. Fry sliced onions till crisp and brown.
Remove and drain. In the same, fat fry ground spices. Add prawns and salt. Fry
for a few minutes. Add a little water. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Grate
coconut and extract thick milk. Add coconut milk and fried onions to prawns
mixture. When prawns are nearly cooked add green chillies slit lengthwise and
juice of lime. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
