Tomato Ka Shorba – Indian soup












Ø  400 gms tomatoes
Ø  115 gms onions
Ø  5 gms ginger
Ø  5 gms garlic
Ø  10 gm green chillies
Ø  10 gms cumin seeds
Ø  ½  coconut
Ø  6 to 8 dry red chilli
Ø  60 gms Bengal gram pwd
Ø  5 gms cinnamon
Ø  5 gms cloves
Ø  5 gms cardamom
Ø  1 bay leaf
Ø  Salt, pepper to taste
Ø  10 ml oil


Chop the tomatoes and boil it in 1½ ltr of water with chopped onion, ginger, garlic, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, green chilli and simmer for one hour.

Grate the coconut and extract milk and mix it with the gram powder.

Gradually mix the shorba into the gram flour

Boil it for 10 to 15 minutes and season to taste with salt and pepper

Heat oil and fry the red chilli whole or chopped and temper the shorba with it. It is a spicy soup. Serve hot.
