Oil for deep frying
4 apple, peeled
Batter:
2 cups self-raising flour
2 cups water
1 tblsp oil
Toffee:
1 tblsp sesame seeds
1 tblsp oil
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
Cut apples into eight pieces, remove cores from apples.
Batter: Sift flour into bowl, make well in centre, stir in oil and water, stir until smooth. Drop apple into batter; drain off excess batter, deep fry in hot oil until golden brown; drain apple pieces on absorbent paper.
Toffee: Heat oil in pan, add water and sugar, stir without boiling until sugar is dissolved. Increase flame to high, boil 5 to 10 minutes without stirring, until toffee turns light golden color. Remove from flame, add sesame seeds. Dip 1 piece of apple into toffee at a time. Remove immediately with oiled tongs and place in a bowl of iced water. Repeat with remaining pieces of apple.
