Snake gourd caldeen















Ingredients

Snake gourd (tender)
115gms
Salt
to taste
Coconut
½
Coriander
5gms
Cumin
a pinch
Turmeric
a pinch
Ginger
2.5 cm. (1”) piece
Green chilli

Cinnamon
2.5 cm (1”) piece
Oil
150ml
Onion
15gms


Wash and cut snake gourd into 5 cm. by 2.5 cm. (2”× 1”) piece. Parboil with a little salt and water. Grind to a fine paste, coconut, coriander, cumin, turmeric, ginger, green chilli and cinnamon. Heat the oil. Add sliced onion. Saute. Add ground ingredients and fry for a few minutes more. Add snake gourd pieces, a cup of water and more salt if desired. Cook till gravy is thick and gourd is tender.
